The small community of Roossenekal is located in the Mpumalanga Province, less than 100 kilometres from the big, industrial metropolis of Middelburg. It is home to over 2,700 people and spans slightly over 2.5 square km. Located in the centre of some of South Africa's most breathtaking scenery, it is a component of the Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality.
Roossenekal has a lengthy and fascinating history, having been declared an official town in January 1886. The odd name is derived from the combined last names of two soldiers who lost their lives fighting Mapoch's tribe: Roos and Senekal.
Because of its ideal location, Roossenekal is both remote and within a few hours' drive from the famous Kruger National Park.
