Nestled in the picturesque Valley of Paarl, Vendôme Manor House offers a serene escape on a working wine and fruit farm with deep historical roots, dating back to 1690 when the French Huguenots first settled here. The building itself, originally constructed in 1898, has been recently renovated to combine the rich history of the Huguenots with a modern, luxurious interior that exudes both charm and comfort.
Surrounded by the majestic Paarl and Drakenstein Mountains, our guest house provides a tranquil retreat with easy access to the renowned Paarl Wine Valley, world-class wineries, and exceptional dining options. The original Cape Dutch main house is non-smoking and set within a beautiful, peaceful garden, complete with a spacious outside stoep under our large oak tree, creating the perfect setting for relaxation.
Whether you’re exploring nearby hiking and cycling trails or enjoying the peaceful garden and swimming pool on the property, Vendôme is the perfect base for both relaxation and exploration. We are conveniently located just 1 km from shopping centres, around the corner from Paarl main road, 2.6 km from Boschenmeer Golf Course, 9.6 km from Pearl Valley Golf Course, 6.5 km from Drakenstein Lion Park, 28 km from Stellenbosch University, and 45 km from Cape Town International Airport.
For your convenience, just a short stroll from the guest house, is Salmon and Brine, an outstanding seafood, sushi, and Japanese fusion restaurant offering a world-class dining experience paired perfectly with a selection of our own Vendôme wines. Enjoy al fresco dining in the courtyard in summer or cosy up near a roaring fireplace in winter.

Just an hour’s drive from Cape Town, you'll find a massive granite outcrop with three rounded domes, the largest of which was originally named Peerleberg or Pearl Mountain by Abraham Gabemma. Abraham discovered the rock in 1657 while searching for meat for the Cape of Good Hope settlement. This striking formation would eventually lend its name to a town, now famous for its stunning countryside, excellent wines, and remarkable architecture.
Paarl stands out for its unique charm, with vineyards growing alongside residential neighbourhoods, preserving a rural atmosphere in a town that is nearly the size of a small city. It’s also the birthplace of the movement to establish Afrikaans as a written language. Today, the Afrikaans Language Museum commemorates this milestone, and a monument dedicated to the language stands on the slopes of Paarl Mountain.
Main Street in Paarl is a vibrant mix of beautifully restored Cape Dutch, Georgian, and Victorian buildings. Notable landmarks include the Strooidak Church, the oldest Dutch Reformed Church in the country, and the Paarl Museum, located in a U-shaped Cape Dutch house. The museum offers an in-depth look at the town’s history, from early human inhabitants to European colonization and slavery.
Paarl is known for cultivating a wide variety of grapes, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Chenin Blanc. The Paarl Wine Route, also known as the 'Red Route,' features over 25 wine cellars, including Backsberg Estate, KWV, Nederburg, Nelsons Creek, Simonsvlei, and Avondale, making it a popular destination for wine lovers.

Paarl Reviews
Best hospitality we have experienced in a very long time.
People go out of their way to accommodate you with the simplest things.
Loved the following places with helpful and friendly staff contributing to an a-lister experience-
Nine Oaks- beautiful venue with a little shop, restaurant and bar area on site. We stayed here for 4 nights and it really is a little hidden gem.
Spice Route- as always we had an amazing experience with the most beautiful views, charcuterie and cheese boards, wines, spices and beer and cider tastings. So much to do in so little time.
Bellaire Pavillion- stunning venue. Beautiful views! Lush green! Variety of little hidden gems all rolled into one venue. If we had more time I would've explored the venue more to see what else it had to offer ♡
Picardie- 5 star experience. Read the review. Nuff said ♡♡♡♡♡
Fairview- Have been to Fairview before. Love the Goats at the entrance. Love the Goatshed restaurant- we had breakfast there- we had the best muesli and yoghurt we have ever had!!! Even if you are not a great fan of a cold breakfast- try it- it might convert your tastebuds!
I have to also give a shout out to all the little local bars we visited- we felt part of the local crowd in no time.
Black Steers Kitchen- wow- what a stunning view and once again accommodating us so last minute to share a bit of what you had to offer to end off our travels on a high note before going for one last Hooray to...
Bossa Paarl- what a way to end a perfect holiday party!
See you all soon hartsmense en hartsplekke. Tot weersiens!
lots to do , safe and clean
Quiet, clean and friendly
Divine greenery.
The vineyards and weather!
Highly recommended to anyone who needs peace, beauty in surrounding and to relax!!
Nice evening vibe. Sushi buffet was Devine!
Visiting the wineries.

The Spice Route is definitely a plus. But the town itself has some stunning spots. There are open green parks along the river which are perfect for picnics, and there are ample shops and restaurants to enjoy.
The farm scenery.
