The Homestead is located in the village of Geluksburg in the the beautiful Drakensburg. It was first conceived in 1908, but before it could be proclaimed the war had forced its abandonment. The projects took off in the 1980's and Geluksberg became a unique village in the beautiful Central and Northern Drakensberg area. Geluksburg is also located close to the famous Lost Valley.
The Homestead Guest Lodge consists of 24 superb rooms, all based on an English Country Inn Style. There are standard rooms, deluxe rooms and family units consisting of two bedrooms and one bathroom. The lovely Executive suite offers a Four Poster Bed, a spa bath and a double shower making it the perfect setting for a Honeymoon couple.
A games room, gym and sauna is now available.
The Homestead has a well set Gazebo and dining room providing its guests with the perfect setting for that special wedding day, seating up to 120 people. For the business minded the conference facility offers a place where your team can plan, concentrate and build up team moral in a lovely, tranquil setting.
The area offers plenty of entertainment for the whole family, such as hiking in the surroundings, game viewing, quad biking for the adrenalin junkies, and horse back riding. This is a true historic Boer War Battlefield where you can learn about the area.

Thought it was a lovely place with pool and some activities to keep you busy. Very clean and comfortable. Cost was very reasonable indeed. Food was simple but delicious. Quite far from main berg attractions(70km)although we still managed two day trips (Monks Cowl and Royal Natal) Well worth it if looking for simple reasonable accomodation.
We had a wonderful stay with Phil and Bernice who are exceptional hosts. Our room was very comfortable and spacious with a never ending supply of hot water to ease our weary bones after long day hikes. The food was delicious and plentiful and I would definitely visit The Homestead again.

The Royal Natal National Park is beautiful (though some of the roads need to be redone). The Coffee Patch and Bingelela Restaurant were great places to eat.
ATKV Drakensville Resort is my first, hope to visit other interesting places later. Quietness and cleaness of the place, mostly warm swimming pools.
