Drakensberg region is extraordinary, thanks to the dramatically beautiful setting. This region is home to the awe-inspiring mountain range of the same name and can predominantly be found in the KwaZulu Natal Province. The range is more than 200 kilometres long and combines rugged peaks with verdant valleys and spectacular backdrops. It creates a natural border between the kingdom of Lesotho and the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
Its name, Drakensberg, roughly translate to “dragon mountains” or “the mountains of dragons”. And, it’s no wonder that it has earned this name because some of the peaks are mammoth in size and stature.

View on the mountain is out of this world.
Amazing stay - two nights was not nearly long enough with everything there is to do there. Can't wait to go back!
We had a great weekend and the resort + accommodation was great. Well done!
Great place, family enjoyed the break.
We stayed for 5 days in a 6 sleeper chalet and friends of us in a 4 sleeper. The chalets are fully equipped with all that we needed. They are situated far apart to ensure privacy. Our chalet did not have a direct view on the mountains but had a big lawn in front for the kids to play.
The tennis court is beautifully situated and well maintained. There are more than enough activities for the kids, riding their bicycles, swings, tennis, and the big swimming pool.
We visited the Royal national park which are very close to Hlalanathi and took some beautiful walks in the park. I wanted to try some bass fishing on the dams on the golf course but there is too much grass in the dams.
I can highly recommend Hlalanathi for families or people enjoying nature.
An absolute favourite resort, situated on a plateau, and visited annually. Tranquility, ample bird life, beautiful views of the Drakensberg Amphitheater showing the source of the Tugela River. Distant cocks crowing, dogs barking, cattle grazing at the river's edge down below the resort.
We've stayed twice at Hlalanathi. The last time was during the winter. The chalets have a lovely view over the berg. There is everything you need for a self catering stay in the chalets. Golf course, trampoline, jungle gym for the kids, place to go for walks/ride their bikes.
Was very impressed - golf course in nice condition, chalets well appointed (but had a hot water problem). The staff were very obliging. Will definately be visiting again in the future!

Normally stay over in that area for a day or two. Find it very relaxing and enjoyable.
Quite environment
The beauty of nature makes people relax and enjoy.
place with a pool,
Quaint little town.
We loved hiking at the Royal national park.
There are so many places of interest and lovely little restaurants to find.
The beautiful Mountain views and accessibility to surrounding restaurants and activities.
The Royal Natal National Park is beautiful (though some of the roads need to be redone). The Coffee Patch and Bingelela Restaurant were great places to eat.
ATKV Drakensville Resort is my first, hope to visit other interesting places later. Quietness and cleaness of the place, mostly warm swimming pools.
