The majestic Northern Drakensberg is the highest part and possibly the most impressive of the Drakensberg mountain range, rising to over 3 000 metres. Known to the Zulu people as Ukhahlamba, or 'Barrier of Spears', the Mountains of the Dragon provide a magnificent semi-circular border between KwaZulu-Natal and the inland mountain kingdom of Lesotho. The watershed of the basalt peaks divide the rains and snows, some flowing westwards over the alpine plateau of Lesotho towards the Atlantic Ocean, and some down the frequently vertical slopes into KwaZulu-Natal, towards the warm Indian Ocean. The Northern Drakensberg is the source of the Tugela River, the largest river in the KwaZulu-Natal Province, and it plunges some 950 metres over the edge of the Mont-aux-Sources.

Stunning views! Delicious food and a great place to get away and relax.
The peace and tranquility, together with outstanding mountain scenery.
The warm reception received upon our arrival. Continuous telephone calls during our journey to ensure that we were safe and on the right route. Jerry waiting for us to arrive (after 11 pm) - and still offered to warm our dinner - too awesome!
The views are excellent and to have horses outside your room a bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food was tasty and plentiful. Management did all they could to make our stay great. Beautiful table decorations for our last night's supper was such a great touch.
We liked feeling comfortable and at home. Having an available coffee station with a full biscuit jar just made it even more like home! The view was stunning. The bed was comfy. The food was great. Gary was friendly and informative.
Cozy beds, clean, good food, excellent service. Fantastic views, thank you.

Normally stay over in that area for a day or two. Find it very relaxing and enjoyable.
Quite environment
The beauty of nature makes people relax and enjoy.
place with a pool,
Quaint little town.
We loved hiking at the Royal national park.
There are so many places of interest and lovely little restaurants to find.
The beautiful Mountain views and accessibility to surrounding restaurants and activities.
The Royal Natal National Park is beautiful (though some of the roads need to be redone). The Coffee Patch and Bingelela Restaurant were great places to eat.
ATKV Drakensville Resort is my first, hope to visit other interesting places later. Quietness and cleaness of the place, mostly warm swimming pools.
