Hillhouse Accommodation was featured in Elle Decoration - The Country Issue June/July 2013. Also in House and Leisure - The Travel Issue, 101 Dream escapes in May 2015. Again in Getaway mag 2015 and Midlands life in 2008.
Hillhouse has sweeping views of Midmar dam and the idyllic Midlands countryside. We are situated in the heart of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands on a farm within the Dargle Valley Conservancy, just 6kms from the N3. There is plenty of space, all the necessary comforts, and lots of style.
There are three self catering houses available:
Hillhouse - sleeping up to 12 people, this is a perfect venue for large groups of family and friends.
There is a main bedroom with a queen bed and an en-suite bathroom. Then there are another 3 bedrooms which each have 2 single beds.
There is a open upper level with another 4 beds, 4 bathrooms in total (with showers not baths)
There are lots of long banquet tables and a huge amount of space for large groups of people. The converted farm shed is the most unusual, and welcoming venue and its open plan design lends itself to a myriad of adventures!
Forest House has 4 bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom. Two rooms have king beds and two have 2 single beds (which can be placed together)
There is a open upper level with 4 beds. One of the bathrooms has a bath, the other 3 have showers.
Lakehouse has 2 bedrooms which each have 2 single beds (that can be placed together), and 1 bathroom with a shower.
Lakehouse has the most magnificent open view. The lounge/diningroom opens up onto the veranda which wraps around the house. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom.
All houses are private, they have a fully equipped kitchen, and an open fireplace with ample wood provided. There are also extra heaters for cold winter nights. We also provide fine cotton bed linen and bath towels. You may request servicing of your house.
There are braai (barbeque) facilities available.
The farm is 3 kms from Midmar Dam where one can fish, sail and water ski. Midmar Mile swimmers and other sporting visitors will find this an ideally convenient location. We are also well situated to access many of the Midlands schools.
There are beautiful walks on the rolling hills and forests on the farm. View buck, bird-life and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. The 70 hectare farm has ideal cycling terrain.
Being in the heart of the Midlands, there are plenty of places to visit and thing to do- one can retreat, relax and unwind or tour the midlands and enjoy all the activities available in the area.
Hillhouse is ideal large groups of people that want to go away and be together.

Hillhouse Guesthouse was excellent. The owners were friendly but gave us the privacy we needed. The rooms were exceptionally clean and the beds were fantastic- would like to do this experience again soon. Jeannette
We recently stayed at Forest House, a new addition to the Hillhouse farm. It was really lovely and we loved the eclectic style of the property and furniture alike. Stunning views and really relaxing! It was rather refreshing not having a television and having to actually talk to your friends and family, was really awesome. We will definately be back and I would recommend to family and friends!
We stayed at Forest House. Its a lovely place to relax and to entertain friends over the weekend. The house is situated in a clearing in the forest with views over Midmar Dam. The large open plan double volume living space is kept warm by a swiveling metal fireplace. The open plan kitchen is modern and well equipped with a huge stainless steel gas/electric oven. The beds are warm and comfortable with lovely crisp white linen. All the bedrooms have heaters and are en-suite onto modern new white bathrooms. We wish we could stay forever!

I was very impressed with the facilities at Hill House and Forest House. The apartment was clean, well light-up, safe, spacious. Good hot water supply, good kitchen equipment, good furniture.
I will certainly like to return. The owners were very kind and co-operative.
A wonderful warm and welcoming atmosphere. The eclectic decor and the beauty of the surroundings fells like a place in heaven.

everything was spick and spam ... we had a divine evening braai, and loved the spaciousness.

We knew we were going to a converted barn but our accomodation far exceeded our expectations thereof. What an amazing convertion!!! We highly recommend this accomodation especially for a large crowd with older kids. The stairs are a bit challenging for young children. The only thing missing is a microwave!!
Hillhouse is a spacious rustic revamped barnhouse where we spent my daughter's 18th birthday. It was truly memorable and we are already planning our return trip. Apart from a microwave, this stunning place has everything you need plus beautiful scenic views all round. The owners live on the property and are really lovely people!

Quaint corners, scenic drives, a range of places to visit. Blueberry Cafe at Netherwood Farm stands out as a highlight - for numerous reasons.
Nice little town, amazing pizzas at Postino Pizzeria.

Dargle is close to where we live in Kloof but we feel like we are on holiday in the country side. We love walking in the forest at Crab Apple Cottages.
