Bay View Lodge is on the northern part of Praia da Barra, a beautiful peninsula, with an estuary behind and a long sandy beach in front of the lodge. Here you can leave your stress behind, explore the underwater wonderland on your doorstep and enjoy the night sky, far away from bright city lights.
All houses at Bay View Lodge are fully equipped for self-catering, with air-conditioned bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. Group House has shared bathrooms. Guests can also enjoy their meals in our pub/restaurant - The Green Turtle which is directly ON the beach. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served daily - will be for your own account.
Our Group House is ideal for a group of friends or family that wish to share. Ideal for dive groups, overlanders - anybody with the same interests. Can accommodate maximum 16 persons (minimum 7persons or the equivalent rate). Bedrooms are air-conditioned, but has shared bathrooms.
NO 4x4 vehicles needed to get to us - tarred road except for the last 4km which is a well maintained dirt road.
Can now also FLY-IN! Direct flight from Johannesburg to Inhambane (town) on LAM air-line, every Wednesday and Friday, or daily via Maputo. Can book directly with LAM.
There are lots to do in the area - or as little as you wish. Scuba diving, sea safaris, deep sea fishing, markets, etc., or just long strolls on the sandy beach.

My husband and I spent 5 days at unit 3. We had an amazing time. It was so relaxing we hated coming back home. The unit is small but practical and just enough for the 2 of us. We had everything we needed and have absolutely no complains. A stone throw away from one of the most beautiful beaches. The managers of the lodge is super friendly and very kind. We are definitely going back there again, for 2 weeks or more lol. Thank you so much team Bayview for having us. See you again soon, God willing.

Our chalet had a view of the sea and was well supplied with all basic necessities for self catering. Dinner at the adjoining Green Turtle restaurant (prawn risotto) was a treat, though pricy.
A very pleasant lodge, providing sufficient privacy and right on the beach. Very well equipped and comfortable chalets with easy access to the lodge from the main Barra Reef road. The owners are most welcoming. Comes highly recommended for a relaxing stay at Barra.
We had been to Mozambique before, but never on holiday. So when the family decided that Christmas 2010 was going to be in Mozambique, the search was on!!
In hindsight, nothing is more important in Mozambique than where you stay – this is true of any location, but in Mozambique, quite simply, this is critical and will make or destroy your holiday.
Our guardian angel was most certainly with us when we found Bayview Lodge in Barra on the internet. The actual accommodation and location is simply unbeatable and we saw no other place we would rather have stayed – the “can do” and helpful attitude of John and Di Bishop on site just never let up, even though we needed to ask “stuff” all the time. This was all complimented by the Johannesburg office contact Catharina Wilfinger, who answered our endless quest for information with contagious enthusiasm, which often was unrelated to Bayview.
What a memorable holiday they all made possible for us – we’ll be back for sure!! Bayview or not at all
