More info about Bergvliet
Bergvliet, which means " Mountain Streamlet " in Afrikaans and the leafy suburb of Meadowridge are at the heart of the Constantiaberg area. Bergvliet and Meadowridge are highly sought after areas that offer a safe and easy walk to a number of fine schools, sports, shopping and community facilities.
Bergvliet was formerly a large farm owned by Simon van der Stel. The original Cape Dutch farmhouse still stands on a large property on the Western border of Bergvliet. The Bergvliet Farm, as it is known, is a beautiful place with a large dam where many birds congregate. The farm is also a favorite dog walking and running location. This southern suburb is centrally situated and ideal to explore the Constantia wine estates and taking walks in the forest.
About Guest Houses
For a more down to earth experience there are guest houses. Less expensive than hotels, they offer a more homey environment, as well as more privacy. Converted from a private house it’s a much gentler environment and for those with furry friends, there are also pet friendly options. They are usually well situated with shops and places of interest nearby. Being so small it offers a much more personal and intimate attention to it’s upkeep, leaving you with a more polished and homely experience.
