The oldest operating brewery in South Africa, Newlands Brewery in Cape Town invites visitors to tour their facility to discover the history behind the brewery and learn of the processes involved in brewing a world class beer.
South Africans love their beer and the Newlands Brewery ships out millions of beers weekly to all parts of the country. Unique to this brewery is the fact that their beers are brewed using pure spring water that flows naturally from the Table Mountain chain.
The South African Breweries (now called Anheuser-Busch InBev following a successful takeover and making it the largest brewing company in the world) purchased the property in 1956 and restored three of the oldest buildings. These buildings, one of which is the old Tower Brewery itself, are classified as national monuments.
